InterContinental Sydney wins big at World Travel Awards

InterContinental Sydney has received global recognition in the 24th World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final Gala Ceremony, taking home the highly competitive and coveted title of the World’s Leading Executive Club Lounge 2017.

This is the first time an Australian hotel has received the accolade since the category’s inception in 2015.

The ‘World’ awards marked the final of the 24th WTA galas for last year, with the 2017 WTA Asia & Australasia awards held earlier in the year.

InterContinental Sydney now adds the World title to a succession of WTA wins, including Australasia’s Leading Executive Club Lounge (the third consecutive year), Australia’s Leading Hotel (2017, 2015 and 2014) and Australasia’s Leading Business Hotel (fourth consecutive year).

“This is a tremendous achievement – one we are both humbled and extremely proud to receive,” said Charlotte Holtmann, Hotel Manager of InterContinental Sydney.

“We have dedicated ourselves to redefining what true luxury experiences mean for our guests, and our Club InterContinental lounge is the ultimate embodiment of our vision: iconic and inimitable panoramas of Sydney, world-class business facilities, exceptional luxury service, and sophisticated, enjoyable food and beverage experiences.”

“We are delighted to achieve such prestigious acknowledgment on a global scale; it is a true testament to our team, our guests, and our commitment for delivering the InterContinental Life.”

The World Travel Awards marks one of the industry’s most renowned and respected award recognitions, with the World awards signifying the top tier of the WTA program.

Nominees in this category have a “proven pedigree of being the globe’s best,” and are shortlisted from the corresponding regional award winners.

The 24th annual honours also marked a significant evening for InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, taking home the title of World’s Leading Hotel Brand for the eleventh time.

With a total of four accolades for InterContinental Sydney in the 2017 WTA, the strong wins add to a collection of success for InterContinental Hotels & Resorts across the region, taking home a total of 41 award wins at the 2017 WTA Asia & Australasia.
