Meeting planners experience the unique of Oahu’s MICE offering

Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania, in conjunction with Hawaiian Airlines, Oahu Visitors Bureau and Marriott SPG Waikiki Complex, hosted a MICE-focused earlier this month.

The famil allowed Brisbane meeting planners and journalists to experience the unique of Oahu’s MICE offering over four nights, including hotels, meeting spaces, restaurants and offsite venues.

Among the highlights were stays at two of the most iconic properties in Waikiki, The Royal Hawaiian and the Moana Surfrider, where participants were able to experience the Aloha hospitality.

Meeting planners and journalists visited a number of historical sites on Oahu such as USS Missouri, with an exclusive lunch onboard in the captain’s cabin by Currents Affairs.

Famil attendees visited an offsite event venue, which included a VIP dinner at Liljestrand Estate by Current Affairs, and experienced the diversity of Oahu and the Northshore thanks to Paradise Helicopters from Kualoa Ranch.

Kerryn Bear, national sponsorship and events manager at Flight Centre Corporate Australia, rated the famil five stars.

“We were fortunate to experience some of the best hotels, dining experiences, activities and event spaces that Oahu has to offer,” she told The Nibbler.

“We met incredibly friendly and professional representatives of the tourism and events industry, along with our fantastic hosts, Joyce Weir from Hawaiian Airlines and Kris Phadungkiatipong from Hawai‘i Tourism Oceania.”

Bear’s favourite part of the famil was experiencing The Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surfrider.

“These Marriott International properties are very well-known, so to experience the product and service firsthand and enjoy the stunning views over the ocean and Diamond Head was very rewarding,” she said.

“I would definitely recommend these properties to my friends, colleagues and clients.”

Jamie Bonner from Cievents said that what surprised her most on the famil was the history of Honolulu.

“I had never previously been to Hawaii and didn’t know what to expect, other than it being quite touristy,” she told The Nibbler.

“We visited some historical sites and to hear the stories from passionate guides was wonderful. I could have listened to the stories all day!”
