ShowGizmo appoints Steve Mackenzie to the Board of Directors

ShowGizmo – a global leader in event app technology is continuing to expand their international team and attract major talent. Current President of Event Booking, and previous Global VP at etouches, Steve Mackenzie was appointed to the ShowGizmo board this week, bringing his global experience to support the business with their expansion into the US.

Steve is well known within the events industry, besides his role with EvenBooking, he has senior executive roles in etouches, Ungerboeck and ASP to his credit. He is based in St Louis, Missouri but travels back to his original homes in New Zealand and Australia regularly.

“I’m honored to take a Director role with ShowGizmo as I’ve known the company for many years and watched their continuous growth and innovation,” said Mackenzie.

“I’m a huge fan of organizations that commit to improving the event experience with smart technology so this is a natural fit for me – especially given the Kiwi connection and I look forward to bringing my experiences to assist the team.”

In addition to this appointment, ShowGizmo also welcomed event app expert Ryan O’Connor to the Asia-pacific sales team.

“I am excited to welcome Steve and Ryan to the team,” said CEO Marie-Claire Andrews, “Steve has extensive experience in the events industry that I know will help us be successful offshore and Ryan, in the APAC region, concretes our commitment to our home market.”

 

Gold Coast Business Events heading to Melbourne

The who’s who of the Gold Coast’s business event industry is heading to Melbourne later this month as the host of a pop-up expo, Gold Coast Connect.

Gold Coast Business Events is hosting the event at RACV City Club over lunch on 24 August with the aim of updating and inspiring conference decision makers and organisers. The lunch time expo will connect meeting planners from 33 of the Gold Coast’s top business event specialists in a showcase of the city’s capabilities to host business events.

Gold Coast Tourism Director of Business Events, Anna Case said the event is an ideal opportunity to update key buyers with the very latest on offer in a city currently experiencing high demand as a business event destination.

THERE’S still time to register to attend Gold Coast Connect Melbourne, which will be held at RACV City Club on 24 Aug. The pop-up expo will run from 12pm to 2pm, and will give MICE planners the chance to meet and network with the Gold Coast Business Events team and 33 local specialist suppliers over lunch. New Western Australia Destination Video Released

A new promotional video showcasing Perth and Western Australia as a fresh and inspiring business event destination has been released by Perth Convention Bureau.

The video presents a visual feast of footage taken across Perth and Western Australia; showing the diversity of the region, its key meeting locations, accommodation and venue options, centres of innovation and research and the extraordinary experiences Western Australia offers.

40th CINZ Conference heading to Hamilton

The Hamilton Waikato region is on show in October when the Conventions and Incentives New Zealand (CINZ) 40th annual conference comes to town.

CINZ Chief Executive Sue Sullivan says the 40th conference promises a jam-packed programme of education and networking. The theme is the Art of Collaboration and includes presentations from several international speakers.

“As an industry we need to understand what is happening overseas, and learn how we can continue to grow. Workshops from our keynote speakers will provide CINZ members with the opportunity to dive deeply into relevant topics, and take real learnings back to their businesses,” she says.

Claudelands is the host venue for the conference on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 October, with social functions planned for some of the region’s key attractions.
