Perth to host the One Club’s Portfolio Night 14

The One Club for Creativity, the world’s foremost non-profit organisation celebrating creative excellence in advertising and design, today announced that Perth, Western Australia, will be a host city for its global Portfolio Night 14!

The event is set to happen on one night in multiple cities around the world on May 23, 2018.

Long recognised as the world’s largest advertising portfolio review program, Portfolio Night is a fast-paced evening of advice, networking and recruitment that takes place in dozens of cities all across the globe on the same date to help the next generation of creative talent entering the industry.

The program enables the best of the present — hundreds of renowned international creative directors — to meet and mentor the leaders of the future — thousands of aspiring young advertising creatives — in industry hubs around the world.

The program includes Portfolio Night All-Stars, where each city host selects one young creative in their market with the best portfolio.

These lucky All-Stars will be flown to New York to work as a team for a week on a creative assignment for a major global brand.

The Perth event is hosted by Perth Advertising & Design Club, who will also invite participation from aspiring talent across all marketing disciplines, including strategic planning, account management, media and digital.

“Hosting Portfolio Night in Australia is a real coup for the PADC and our education partner Edith Cowan University (ECU),” said Mark Braddock, president, PADC.

“We’re very excited to bring this globally-renowned program from New York to the other side of the world to inspire and guide the country’s next generation of creative talent.”

“Portfolio Night is an important event in advertising because it serves as the gateway for young talent to enter the industry,” said Kevin Swanepoel, chief executive officer, The One Club for Creativity.

“It’s also a unique global event that serves as a high-visibility opportunity for agencies to give back to the industry by guiding the earliest steps of future copywriters, art directors, designers and technologists. We’re thrilled to work with PADC and bring Portfolio Night to Perth.”

He added Portfolio Night has also become a crucial tool for agencies in recruiting top young talent, providing them with a platform for recognition from local industry peers and giving agencies a place on the global stage as the ad world tunes into this one-of-a-kind event.

Past Portfolio Night city hosts include leading global agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather, DDB, McCann, Y&R, BBDO and J. Walter Thompson, as well as small-to-mid-size agencies including Sid Lee, Perfect Fools and David&Goliath.

Schools and organisations that have served as city hosts include the Chicago Portfolio School and L’Association des Agences-Conseils en Communication in Paris.

Past global sponsors of Portfolio Night include Twitter, Shutterstock, Getty Images, Corbis, Monotype and others.

“Thank you to all the agencies and partners that have made this possible,” added Braddock. “A huge thanks, in particular, goes to local communications legend Paul Yole for his assistance in bringing Portfolio Night to Western Australia.”
