The Big Cheese with Alicia Evans of Daydream Island

Daydream Island Resort and Spa’s conference and events sales manager Alicia Evans takes some time to talk rising stars, ever changing trends and incentives with a difference.

The great thing about my job is… No two events are the same, so it allows me to get creative with each and every client. Plus I get to sell a destination and experience that I love!

The challenge for industry is… Budget constraints.

My greatest achievement is… Recently being awarded the Rising Star Award.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… Ever changing trends for meeting spaces and creating incentives with a difference.

I try to relax by… Making time for the things that I love – Family, friends, hobbies etc.

I don’t understand why… Bad things happen to good people.

My favourite venue is… I don’t have a definitive favourite. I love experiencing new venues that offer great facilities and standout options for functions, activities and leisure time.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Where do I start? USA, Europe, Canada, Africa.… two of which are being ticked off my bucket list this year!

I am scared to death of… Loved ones being affected by illness.

I can’t live without… The company of good people, animals and music.

I really wish I had… I honestly can’t wish for more than I already have. If I had to wish for anything it would be enough financial freedom so that my family could always live comfortably and so I could give back to causes close to my heart.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… An ancestor for story telling, Taylor Swift for laughs, Mother Teresa for her wisdom and Richard Branson for his entrepeneurial advice.

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be …. Take a great attitude to work with you everyday. Let your passion shine and your hard work and determination will pay off — and be open to any opportunity that will make you grow.
