The Big Cheese with Tourism Portfolio’s Brigit Mahal

This week’s Big Cheese is with Brigit Mahal, Business Development Manager for Tourism Portfolio.

The great thing about my job is… the combination of working with my office and industry colleagues and showcasing our extraordinary products to our inspiring trade partners.

The challenge for the industry is… to keep up to date with the latest trends! Though this creates the opportunity for us to showcase our venue and destination partners in an engaging way as they continue to innovate and develop their unique offerings.

My greatest achievement is… relocating from Netherlands to Australia and buying our own apartment in Sydney!

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… Get Global trade event of course! I’ve registered!

I try to relax by… reading a book with a great glass of wine whilst sitting in the sun

I don’t understand why… most houses in Sydney don’t have central heating!

My favourite venue is… the Observatory Hill in Sydney as it’s one of my first memories after arriving in Sydney and the view is amazing!

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Cuba and South America

I am scared to death of… turbulence

I can’t live without… my husband, my family and Dutch Old Cheese (which is hard to get in Australia)

I really wish I had more time to… cook the delicious cuisines of all of the destinations in our portfolio.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Morgan Freeman, George Calombaris, Anne Hathaway and Guus Meeuwis (famous Dutch singer).

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be… always network at events, never be afraid to ask for help and enjoy what you do.
