Business Events Sunshine Coast was commended for thinking outside the box last week, taking out the inaugural award for best innovative stand at the 2013 AIME Awards.

City of Sydney was recognised as the best newcomer, taking home the award for best new exhibitor, while Arinex managing director Roslyn McLeod received the industry person of the year award for her contribution to the events sector.

Presenting the awards at the AIME CEO Summit last week, Reed Travel Exhibitions portfolio director Craig Moyes acknowledged McLeod’s commitment to business events and congratulated her on a successful career spanning more than four decades.

“Throughout her long career Roslyn has always shown a real dedication to contribute to the industry and through her involvement in a number of bureau-led bids, she has contributed to millions of dollars’ worth of event business being won for Australia,” he said.

Spicers Retreats Hotels & Lodges was also awarded the best stand under 36m2 and Accor Asia-Pacific received the award for best environmentally sustainable stand for the second year running.

The dates for AIME 2014 have been confirmed, with the two-day trade show to return to the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on February 18-19.
