Accor primes Pullman for Australia

Accor has vowed to expand its Pullman brand in Australia, and remains confident it will become Australia's largest five star network by the end of 2013.

The Pullman brand has been a key focus for Accor following the Mirvac acquisition, with many former Mirvac hotels to be rebranded as Pullman properties over the next 12 months.

Quay Grand Suites Sydney is the latest addition to the network, officially rebranded as Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour last week.

It joins two recently rebranded Pullmans in Sydney, Pullman Reef Casino in Cairns and Pullman Bunker Bay in Western Australia. Several Sebel hotels will also be rebranded within the next six months.

With the brand set to expand to 15 hotels by late 2013, chief operating officer Accor Pacific Simon McGrath said growing the Pullman network remained a “key priority” for the hotel group.

“The Pullman brand holds such a rich history and is highly regarded throughout Asia and Europe, and it makes sense for us to grow this brand in Australia where there is clear demand for quality internationally branded hotels aimed at the corporate and upscale leisure markets,” he said.

As the Pullman expansion continues, Accor remains confident it will become the largest five star network by March 2013 – a title that is currently held by Hilton Australia.

Hilton Sydney currently has nine five star brands in Australia, while Pullman expects to operate 12 by March 2013.

With all Pullman hotels featuring extensive conference and function facilities, the transformation is expected to have a substantial impact on the Australian MICE landscape.

Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour features 67 suites with balconies, work desks and wireless internet. It also has an in-house restaurant and bar, three function rooms and function space catering for up to 140 delegates.
