Rydges’ new four-star hotel at Sydney Airport’s international terminal has opened ahead of its original June date, and has already hosted its first meeting.

Tish Nyar, general manager of the $68 million property told The Nibbler that strong interest has been seen from all market segments, with it set to finish its first month on target.

He also reported good forward bookings for its seven small to medium conference rooms and two larger spaces, with the first booking fulfilled just one day after opening.

The majority of MICE interest has so far come mainly from Sydney-based planners, although Nyar revealed enquiries have come in from as far afield as Spain.

He highlighted the property’s major drawcards as its location, a 10-minute train ride from the city, combined with city views from its rooftop venue, its food and video conferencing facilities as its major drawcards.

In addition, its “Quick meets” product, which allows people to walk-in and use its small spaces for an hour or a day with no need to book in advance is also expected to prove popular, he added.
