US-based BCD M&I has confirmed that Fernando Lonergan has joined the firm as senior director Asia Pacific based in Sydney to drive the company’s regional expansion.

Lonergan joins the company after six years as program director with CWT Meetings & Events Australia and New Zealand.

He will report directly to the company’s managing director Asia Pacific, Lisa Hopkins.

“Fernando will bring a clear focus to our Australian-based customers and also to our global and regional partners as they look to expand their meeting programs in the region,” she said.

“His depth of experience and knowledge about the business of creating extraordinary meeting solutions for customers is unparalleled.”

Lonergan will be responsible for growing the Australian market and will be the key business development lead for multi-national solutions within APAC.

“Today, clients in Asia Pacific want better visibility and control of meetings and events which was traditionally a hidden category,” he said.

“They are looking to partner with organisations like BCD M&I to create programs which deliver savings, efficiencies and risk mitigation.”

The sister company of travel management company BCD Travel, BCD M&I currently operates in more than 40 countries.
