Business trips likely to rise, study reveals

Four out of 10 business travellers scrutinise hotel reviews when they prepare a work trip, with only a minority saying they never consult social media, a new survey has found.

The Travelscene Corporate study, conducted via LinkedIn, found that 41% said they “absolutely” read reviews while 30% “sometimes” take the views of their peers into account.

Only 12% said they never use social media or reviewed online.

The poll also found that 52% of respondents said they expect an increase in corporate trips going into 2014 with almost one in three (29%) believing it may decrease and 13% predicting the number of trips will be unchanged.

A third question, delving into the worries of the business traveller, revealed that 62% found delayed flights the biggest frustration followed by the prospect of missing connections.

Airline security, loyalty points and seat availability were also a bug bear among 7%, 8% and 8% respectively.
