Conference win puts Christchurch back on map
By admin

Christchurch has made another step back onto the world stage as a conference destination with its securing of the 20th Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors in May 2016.

The conference will draw 400 delegates to the city from across the Asia Pacific region, generating around $1.2 million for the local economy.

“This is a timely win for Christchurch,” Christchurch and Canterbury Convention Bureau manager Caroline Blanchfield said.

“We’ve got a great story to tell and a wealth of experience to share. We’re confident that securing this conference is the start of great things for our city’s business tourism industry.’’

The city has undergone significant regeneration since it was ravaged by earthquakes in 2010 and 2011. The red zone cordon was removed last June, with several hotels in the CBD returning to operation as the city unveiled a range of dynamic new public spaces.
