DMS workshops edge closer

The annual Destination Marketing Services (DMS) workshops are fast approaching, with managing director Leila Bishara promising this year’s line up will showcase the latest programs and itineraries from across the globe.

More than 25 Destination Management Companies (DMCs) will exhibit at the annual event showcase, including influential representatives from Asia, Africa, Brazil and France.

Representatives from the US and Hawaii will also travel across the Pacific to reveal the latest itineraries and update attendees on incentive trends.

Speaking to The Nibbler yesterday, Bishara described the workshops as a “valuable experience” for PCOs and event managers from Australia and New Zealand.

“Attendees will receive up to date information on the destinations that are exhibiting and have a chance to meet the people they work with throughout the year,” she said. “They will also learn about the latest trends and fresh ideas which are now entering the market.”

With several top DMCs confirmed to exhibit, Bishara assured that attendees would be well placed to strike up deals with senior global and regional contacts.

They would also receive up to date information on current global trends, she added.

“Many clients are seeking to hold their events in lower cost destinations, yet demand for more costly destinations is also strong because of the strength of the Australian dollar,” she said. “The currency is working in our favour and there has been a return to coveted destinations in Europe and the USA – presenting some great opportunities for the industry to really improve yield.”

DMS will release further updates in the coming weeks before the first workshop kicks off in Sydney on February 21. A second workshop will follow in Melbourne on February 25.
