International buyers and media will be given the chance to experience some of Australia's destinations first hand as part of the education program for Dreamtime 2013.

The annual Australian business events show will be held in Melbourne from December 9 to 13 and will be attended by around 100 international buyers and media who will be shown Australia's capabilities in the business events arena over that time.

The business events program and networking events hosted in partnership with Melbourne Convention Bureau will be followed by three days of educational visits.

Visitors from India will be taken to Adelaide, those from North America to Cairns while Japanese and Korean visitors will take a trip to the Gold Coast. UK and New Zealand buyers will go to Uluru in the Northern Territory with those from Greater China, Hong Kong and South East Asia to visit Sydney.

The Dreamtime event is part of a broader strategy to promote Australia as a business events destination to international markets, according to Tourism Australia managing director Andrew McEvoy.

"Dreamtime gives the Australian business events industry a platform to do business with well qualified international buyers from key markets such as China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, New Zealand, North America and the United Kingdom," he said.

"The educational program will provide our international guests with the opportunity to experience what the Australian industry can deliver and our point of difference from other markets, from bespoke corporate incenitve experiences as well as hosting large scale gala events."
