Jetstar commences services from Melbourne to Uluru

Jetstar commences services from Melbourne to Uluru
By admin

Jetstar’s inaugural flight between Melbourne and Uluru, the first low fares service to connect the two points, took off on Sunday with the airline reporting full capacity.

The service picks up from the Alliance Airlines charter flights launched by Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia in order to make Uluru more accessible and affordable, which finished this weekend. Before that, Victorians had to travel to the iconic Red Centre destination via Sydney, with the journey taking up to seven hours.

Jetstar Australia and New Zealand chief executive David Hall described the launch of the new service as “great news for tourism”.

“We’ve seen a really positive response from travellers since we announced these flights in March and bookings remain strong,” he said.

“There’s no doubt the direct service, with a flight time of just over three hours, will make holidaying at Uluru a more attractive proposition for Victorian travellers.”

The carrier has also boosted its Sydney-Uluru service, which launched last June, from four times weekly to daily, with Hall reporting a “steady increase in demand” on the route.

He attributed growing interest in travel to the destination in part to the royal visit in April which had helped to put it "back in the limelight".
