Gold Coast tourism professionals were treated to a roaring night in Surfers Paradise over the weekend as they welcomed the V8 Ute drivers for the annual GC600 event.

Guests eyed over 60 race cars on display at Mantra Sun City, including a $600,000 McLaren flown in from London to mark the occasion.

Mantra Sun City general manager Michael Murtagh described the turn out for this year’s event as a “great success”, noting that 65% of bookings had been confirmed since March.

A record 182,255 people visited the GC600 over the weekend. Mantra Sun City catered for over 600 drivers, crew and event staff.
