Tourism Portfolio has appointed Nicole Skjaerbaek to its Sydney office as business development manager of leisure. Skjaerbaek will raise awareness of the leisure travel products offered by its client portfolio, including Asian Trails, New World Travel and Gulf Ventures.

The Wharf and Orakei Bay in Auckland have announced a series of new appointments as the venues look to capitalise on their successes in corporate events. Michael Mesissner has been appointed as executive sous chef, Sally Tau joins as event sales co-ordinator and Nicky Johnson has taken on the role as sales event coordinator following her return from London. Dale Brown has also been promoted to event sales coordinator. Both properties are operated by The Orange Group.

Accor Asia Pacific chairman Michael Issenberg has been confirmed as a guest speaker at the Australian Hotel Industry Conference & Exhibition (AHICE), to be held in Sydney on May 16. Telstra Australian business woman of the year Carolyn Creswell will also deliver the opening keynote address.

This month's launch of the MSC Preziosa will make MSC Cruises the world's third largest cruise line in terms of passenger capacity. The new ship will take its annual capacity to 1.45 million guests across its 12 ships, ranking it behind Carnival and Royal Caribbean.

Novotel Forest Resort Creswick is now offering segway tours as a team building activity, after announcing a new partnership with Segway Victoria yesterday.
