Diggers & Dealers, Australia's largest mining conference, has yielded 100% occupancy for Accor's Ibis Styles Kalgoorlie.

Over the course of the conference, from August 4 to 7, the hotel has also been taking forward bookings for next year's event and expects to hold 60% of reservations by the end of the week.

"As the edmand for rooms over the conference period keeps getting higher and higher, the demand for accommodation in Kalgoorlie keeps growing and we've seen an increase in REVPAR year-on-year over this time," acting general manager, Shaun Fahey, said.

 

Ireland's Kildare Village is offering organisers bringing groups to the village during the year-long Gathering event a 50 euro gift card by way of thanks.

In addition, members of groups of more than five people will receive a VIP Day card along with a range of other benefits.

The village is also creating a purpose-built VIP lounge for MICE groups due to open in September. 

 

Accor's Pullman hotel brand has been named the official hotel partner of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Sydney, to take place at Town Hall from August 21 to 24.

Its Shop, Play and Stay package designed to coincide with the festival is priced from $269 and is available through to the end of 2013.

 

Best Western has signed two new hotels in Tasmania, both formerly operated by Accor's Mercure brand.

The addition of Best Western Hobart and Best Western Plus Launceston takes its Tasmanian portfolio to seven.

 

A new onsite water play centre has been approved for Oaks Oasis in Caloundra, with the new facility expected to boost the destination's appeal when it launches in November.

 

Garuda Indonesia's five years absence from the Brisbane route ended on Thursday as a Boeing 737-800 aircraft flew its inaugural service on the Brisbane-Denpasar route.

The daily operation takes the Indonesian carrier's tally of Australian services to 52 per week.

 

Tony Pedroni has been named the new general manager of the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort in Thailand, effective immediately.

 

Emirates has doubled its services to Amsterdam with the addition of a second daily service from December 4 to be operated by Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

The new service will complement the daily Airbus A380 service which commenced last August, and adds more than 3,700 weekly seats to the route.
