The Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco & Spa hotel in Uruguay has opened its doors after a US75 million facelift that began in 2009.

The property originally opened in 1921 as the Hotel Casino Carrasco by Uruguayan visionary Alfredo Arocena, and has been visited by people such as Albert Einstein, Federico García Lorca, Getúlio Vargas, Felipe González and François Mitterrand.

 

Emirates will upgrade its Dubai-Los Angeles route with the introduction of a daily A380 service from December 2.

 

Alex Barnett has joined Radisson Blu Hotel Sydney as its new marketing communications manager.

Barnett joins the hotel from Australian Traveller Media.

 

South African Airways has been awarded International Air Transport Association Environmental Assessment stage one status, in recognition of its group environment strategy.

It becomes one of the first airlines in Africa and one of six in the world to achieve the status.

 

Amarterra Villas Bali Nusa Dua has become the second Balinese property to join Accor's MGallery Collection.

The 39-villa new build property is located in the Bali Tourism Development Corporation complex in Nusa Dua on the southern coast of the island.
