Australian acting legend Jack Thompson has been engaged by creative agency Imagination as creative ambassador for Sydney New Year’s Eve 2014 – Australia’s biggest public event.

Thompson, has been chosen by the Imagination team to bring this year’s theme of Inspire to life.

It is the fourth year that Imagination has been charged with the major event’s creative direction.

 

The National Convention Centre in Canberra has launched a new winter conferencing offer for small and medium sized businesses.

Priced from $69 per person per day, the package includes complimentary wifi for all delegates, complimentary parking along with room hire, morning tea, a hot buffet lunch and afternoon tea.

Additionally, a dedicated fibre optic connection is available where conference organisers can nominate their required bandwidth from 2 to 10Mbs.

 

Queenstown's KJet has reported a marked increase in overall bookings, with particular growth coming from the Australian and New Zealand markets.

“Compared to last year the number of Aussie and Kiwi enquiries has jumped and also the size of the groups seem to have grown from the 50-60 mark to a lot of large groups of 200+pax bookings,” sales and marketing manager Ginny Goding said at MEETINGS.

“Things are certainly pretty positive in the C&I market at the moment and we’re looking towards a busy future too.” 

 

A special MEETINGS package from Heritage Hotels is offering conference bookers half an hour of free canapés, one complimentary room for each 15 booked and free wifi at a range of its properties.

These include Heritage Auckland, CityLife Auckland and Auckland’s Waitakere Estate, along with Heritage Hanmer Springs, Heritage Queenstown, Heritage Boutique Collection’s Martinborough Hotel and Marlborough Vintners Hotel.

To qualify for the special, bookings must be made before 31 July 2014 quoting the MEETINGS 2014 special and the event held before 31 June 2015.

The Good Morning Good Night Melbourne package offers a “unique way” to enjoy a birds-eye view across Melbourne at two different times in the same day, according to Melbourne Star chief executive Chris Kelly.

 

Turkish destination management company kmice by Karavan has appointed Elite Representation Asia Pacific to oversee its sales and marketing activities to the business events markets of Australia and New Zealand.

Director Onur Alkaya said Turkey is now “well and truly” on the radar for the business events sector.

“We have seen business tourism enquiries from Australia and New Zealand, especially in the area of Incentives and Meetings and Events grow in recent time,” he said.
