AirAsia X has confirmed Adelaide as its fifth Australian port, with the four times weekly A330-300 service will take to the skies from October 30.

The Sheraton Mirage Resort & Spa Gold Coast has completed a $26 million refurbishment of its 295 rooms and event venues.

The property’s 1000-person Mirage Grand Ballroom has been enhanced with digital signage, and easy access for large equipment and vehicles.

In addition, its in-house audio-visual systems have been upgraded in conjunction with on-site partner Staging Connections to offer high definitions Panasonic projectors and digital cable network.

Webcasting technology and attendee engagement tools have also been revamped.

South African Airways (SAA) has taken delivery of its first two A320 aircraft in a move it said will raise the quality of its African operations.

“Our passengers from Australia and New Zealand want the same standard and quality of aircraft they receive on international sectors,” SAA Australasia country manager Tim Clyde-Smith said. “The new A320s will help deliver that demand.

The carrier has a further 18 A320s on order.

Conference organisers can get their hands on a year’s worth of Gold Class movie tickets as part of a new incentive run by quirky hotel QT Gold Coast in partnership with Event Cinemas.

To be eligible, organisers must book and hold a residential meeting at the property by December 20.

JPT Tour Group has revamped its website to offer real time bookings for professional conference organisers.

The enhanced website, www.daytours.com.au, also features easier navigation, last minute deal and fresh imagery, with organisers also able to benefit from personalised landing pages for delegate and partner bookings.

RACV Royal Pines will begin a multi-million dollar overhaul of its convention centre in December.

The refit will include a “massive” glass wall to enclose the 1000 square metre space with a new “Gone with the Wind-style” staircase to be installed in the lobby.

A new adaptable lighting system, electronic signboards and sound-proofing will also be included in the project.
