Darwin Convention Centre has named Janet Hamilton as its general manager following the departure of Malu Barrios who has been recruited to head up the temporary convention facilties at Glebe Island.
Hamilton joins from Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) where she held the role as manager for external relations for the past four years. She also has extensive major event and project management experience with the Sydney Olympic Organising Committee, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and Melbourne's Docklands precinct.
Peppers Beach Club and Spa Palm Cove has completed a $100,000 upgrade of its 110-capacity conference space with new carpet, furniture, lighting and paintwork which allows delegates to write on walls rather than use flipcharts.
Meanwhile, Mantra is offering a 10% discount on delegate day packages at its newly opened resort in Nusa Dua Bali. Bookings must be made by December 30 and the event held by December 2014 to quality for the special rate.
Quest Serviced Apartments has opened a 4.5 star property in Rockhampton CBD. The $20 million development has 73 one and two bedroom apartments.
Chairman Paul Constantinou described the property as a "direct response" to the region's growth.
"Rockhampton has become one of Australia's economic hubs with $146 billion worth of investment planned for completion before 2020," he said. "Quest is committed to meeting the demands of its customers and seeking our growth corridors, particularly in regional and suburban Australia, where quality accommodation is highly sought."
Quest will open a further seven properties over the next 12 months; three in Queensland and one each in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
