A number of the Staging Connections' executive team will be hitting the road as part of the 1200kms for kids charity bike ride.

The team will ride on behalf of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and the Children’s Health Foundation to raise funds for sick children across Australia.

"Karsten, Tim and I jumped at the opportunity to be involved in the 1200km for kids – Charity Bike Ride. With a great deal of help from our teams and our networks, we’re proud to be well on our way to raising much needed funds to aid this charities impressive work. Having raised over $25,000 for last year’s ride, we hope to beat our efforts particularly since we have an extra Staging Connections rider joining us” said Tony Chamberlin, managing director, staging connections. 

Tony Chamberlain will be joined with Karsten Richert, regional general manager – northern region and Tim Morgan, general manager – NSW and Canberra on the ride.

 

Tourism Accommodation Australia NSW Awards for Excellence has recognised Jessica Harford as one of the hotel industry’s rising stars.

The former check-out-chick was spotted working at a Coles supermarket and hired for the new Atura Hotel in Blacktown due to her excellent customer focus, before taking out the award jointly with Matthew Guy from Rydges Parramatta.

The Park Hyatt, Sydney took out the prestigious Sydney deluxe accommodation of the year award for the second year running, while Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa received the award for regional deluxe accommodation of the year as well as regional restaurant of the year.

Bar of the year went to Four Season’s grain bar, while Park Hyatt, Sydney’s Dining Room won metropolitan restaurant of the year, proving that it is one of Sydney’s top hotel picks.

 

Coogee Pavilion has opened its new ground floor dining area today, offering casual dining experiences in a beachside setting.

The new Merivale venue caters to a range of tastes and budgets with local seafood one of the hot dishes served out by the culinary duo of Jordan Toft and Zac Skyes as well as their culinary team.  

The ground floor also includes ‘Vinnies Pizzeria’ as well as the fresh fruit juice stand ‘Love Juice’.

 

AEG Ogden has appointed Samantha Taranto as the new international convention centre Sydney communications director following increasing worldwide business interest.

Samantha brings 14 years of experience in communications and public relations to her new role at the ICC Sydney, Australia’s largest and first-fully integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment centre which is set to open in December 2016.

 

Destination Marketing Association International has announced the first six inductees into its new Hall of Fame, with GainingEdge chief executive Gary Grimmer taking one of the sports.

Launched to mark DMAI’s centennial celebrations this year, the Hall of Fame Award recognises individuals who have made a significant impact in the area of destination marketing.

The other recipients of the award are the president and founder of Detroit Convention and Tourists' Bureau Milton Carmichael, Peggy Flower of Greater Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau, Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau’s former president George D. Kirkland, current president of Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Rossi Ralenkotter, and former president of the Greater Houston Convention and Vistors Bureau Leonard Rolston.
