The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) dominated the stage at the Queensland Meetings & Events Australia Awards last week, taking home three award titles for excellence in the events sector.

BCEC received the banqueting and catering award, in-house AV services award and the gong for corporate social responsibility for more than 30 employees.

BCEC general manager Bob O’Keeffe commended staff for the achievement, and acknowledged employees who volunteer as part of the centre’s social responsibility program.

“Congratulations must go to our dedicated team who are at the forefront of our award winning event delivery,” he said. “We will continue to invest and innovate to provide a world class product contributing to Brisbane’s international reputation as a first choice destination for business events.”

Meanwhile, Liz Williamson from the Department of Education and Training was recognised as event manager of the year and Staging Connections Queensland took home the gong for technical and creative production over $5 million.

All award winners will now go head to head with other state winners at the MEA national awards in Darwin.
