The great thing about my job is… The opportunity to manage global trade exhibitions all around the world.

The challenge for industry is…  For the exhibition industry it is making sure visitors continue to respond to the unique benefits exhibitions offer – to see, discuss and compare in the most efficient way.

My greatest achievement is… In business, it has been convincing national associations in eight different countries, across four continents, that we can run the largest exhibition they have ever been responsible for, all from our office in Sydney.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… Don’t know. Unfortunately in Sydney it will probably be losing the convention centre for up to three years.

I try to relax by… Just stopping. I am lucky I can go from flat out to chilled very easily.

I don’t understand why… People want to make simple things complicated.

Currently the album playing on my iPod is… My previous career was as a DJ (for fifteen years). I didn’t have a strong interest in music then, and still don’t now.  If Leonard Cohen or Van Morrison is on the in flight entertainment system then I might indulge.

My favourite venue is… The next one. One of the exciting challenges is taking the same exhibition to a different venue in a different country and delivering the same standard of event for exhibitors and attendees.

I am scared to death of… Taxis.  The most dangerous thing about flying is the taxi to the airport, especially in some of the countries I need to visit for work.

I can’t live without… Knowing that I will be heading back to family and home in Oz.  The more you travel the luckier you know you are.

Blackberry or iPhone… Call me a Luddite but to get my job done I need a keypad and easy email access. So it is Blackberry.

I really wish I had… Learned what’s important earlier in life.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Some of those who died before their vision was realised, to see what they think of the outcomes.  Sir Henry Parkes and his thoughts on a century of Federation; JFK on the moon landing (and post Camelot USA); and  Einstein on the Higgs boson.   Plus my wife Deborah – all the best things in life should be shared.
