Accor will manage the 571-room Star Convention Centre in Thailand after signing an agreement to manage, rebrand and renovate the facility.

The convention centre’s hotel will be rebranded to Novotel Rayong Star Convention Centre in 2020, and will undergo a major renovation of its public areas, dining outlets and guestrooms in the first phase.

While another 336 guest rooms will be added to the Rayong province-based facility’s 235 rooms, in the second phase over the next two years.

SPatrick Basset, chief operating officer at Accor across the upper Southeast and Northeast Asia and the Maldives, said that with the region’s upcoming high-speed train, Thailand’s eastern seaboard presents excellent development opportunities.

“We’re very excited to have the Star Convention Hotel join the Accor network and to grow our portfolio in a city like Rayong,” Basset said.

“Guests can look forward to the natural and intuitive design of the Novotel brand and relax in the comforting and energising spaces.”

Situated in one of Thailand’s major agricultural and industrial provinces, the hotel is also a popular beach destination for locals, and is approximately 2.5-hour drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The property is also a one-hour drive from U-Tapao International Airport.

“We are pleased to join Accor and we believe that the group’s expertise and experience in hospitality will add to the success of our hotel,” Phisamai Supanuntaroek, director of Star Convention Hotel, said.

“The signing of our partnership with Accor also reflects our confidence in Rayong’s tourism industry and the East Economic Corridor (EEC) Policy.

“We look forward to working with the Accor team to unfold a new chapter of Star Convention Hotel’s legacy.”
