Australian Event Awards 2021 ceremony to be held as series of “bite-sized” broadcasts

After extensive consultation with the industry, the Australian Event Awards 2021 ceremony has joined the long list of events to move online this year due to the effects of COVID-19.

In an unusual move, the ceremony will be delivered as a series of “bite-sized” broadcasts delivered each evening over 12 days in October, capping off a month-long industry celebration during which the work of every entrant will be highlighted.

“The decision to move the Event Awards ceremony online was not an easy one,” said managing director Ian Steigrad.

“However, based on feedback from the industry and ongoing travel restrictions and uncertainty, we have decided to celebrate the achievements and resilience of the industry in a timely way even if, regrettably, that has to be done online.”

Each day from 1 to 19 October, the Australian Event Awards will showcase short highlights of every entrant and their accomplishments since 1 July 2020 on its social media channels.

These highlights will include an image or video of the accomplishment, a short overview and recognition of a few of the individuals that were integral to the operation.

The finalist and winner announcements will take place between 20 and 31 October. The announcements will take the form of mini-broadcasts which will be uploaded to the Australian Event Awards YouTube channel at a designated time each evening.
