Big Cheese: Kelli Vettoretto, Regional Vice President, HelmsBriscoe

The great thing about my job is… my team here in Australia and being associated with such a well-respected global site selection brand as HelmsBriscoe… oh and the flexibility of working from home on the Gold Coast.

The challenge for industry is…keeping it real and not forgetting that our industry is ALL about developing genuine long term relationships.

My greatest achievement is…being true to myself and maintaining good health and happiness and I of course being happily married for 22 years.

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be…the reopening of the Sydney Convention Centre and the range of new quality hotels opening both domestically and overseas.

I try to relax by…I should say disconnecting from my mobile devices on a regular basis but that’s easier said than done. Regular massages and spending quality time with family and friends is what I find most relaxing.

I don’t understand why…anyone would play Pokemon Go, seriously!

My favourite venue is…either a luxury resort with a full service day spa or a boutique hotel housed in an historical building, something with a bit of character.

I’ve always wanted to travel to…Mexico & Las Vegas and I recently visited both. Spain & Portugal are next on my list and more luxury cruising….. anywhere, anytime.

I am scared to death of…only two things…heights & snakes.

I can’t live without…family, especially our 8 precious neices and nephews.

I really wish I had……listened to my Mum’s advice when I was younger, but then I wouldn’t have had as much fun getting up to mischief.

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be…creative and passionate women such as Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren, Jane Goodall and Maggie Beer (I’d ask her to cook).

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be …. gain work experience even if it’s unpaid whilst gaining relevant formal qualifications. Try lots of things until you find something you really enjoy, then do it.
