Club Med has appointed Julie Voultepsis to the newly created role of MICE manager for the Pacific market, following a period of exponential growth for the premium all-inclusive holidays brand.

Set to spearhead Club Med’s Meetings and Events sector, Voultepsis steps into the role after almost 25 years with the Club Med brand.

Voultepsis began her journey with the Club Med Meetings and Events team in Gauteng, South Africa before joining the team in Sydney as the Meetings and Events Account Manager in 2020.

With expertise spanning MICE operations, trade support, tour leading, leisure travel and human resources, Voultepsis boasts a well-rounded background making her the perfect fit to step into the MICE manager role and lead this very important sector of the business.

The appointment comes following the division of Club Med Pacific’s sales department. With the MICE and Trade sector experiencing strong growth and expected to flourish in the coming years, both departments will now be led independently with a distinctive strategy, sales technique and marketing plan.

The new appointment will see Lisa Bacon transition into the role of head of trade sales. Joining the Club Med Pacific team in 2021 as the head of sales and MICE, Bacon has been instrumental in building efficiencies, alignment and collaboration across Club Med’s MICE sector throughout the travel rebound.

“The Club Med Pacific market has witnessed sensational growth following the travel rebound,” Club Med Pacific general manager, Michelle Davies, said of the appointments. “We are anticipating an increase in sales of 43% for this year compared to 2019, with business volume for our MICE sector up 30 per cent for year since 2019, an outstanding reflection of the tremendous stabilisation and growth within our market.

“Following our success, it is evident we’ve outgrown the rebound stage and are ready for the next challenge. To help us meet our ambitious targets thanks to increased capacity in the coming years, we now have a wonderful opportunity to provide dedicated resource to the trade and MICE sector of the business.

“Mentored by Lisa for almost three years at Club Med, Julie has shown an eagerness to develop alongside huge potential and is the perfect fit to take on the responsibility of 2.9M euros (AU$4.85m) worth of business as our MICE manager.

“Lisa has been instrumental in the success of our MICE sector, and we can’t wait to watch her continue to succeed in leading our sales strategy with our valued travel agent partners, a fundamental aspect of our business.”

Bacon’s primary ambition in her new role is to expand the Business Development Manager team with the introduction of an additional BDM based out of NSW, roll out the new Club Med Travel Agent Portal and implement a revamped Club Med Advantage Program, pegged for 2025, as well as build on our existing partnerships with our valued trade partners.

Lisa Bacon, Head of Trade Sales for Club Med Pacific said: “As the trade sector of our business continues to soar, I am incredibly excited to be able to devote my time and expertise to the trade sales arm of the business.

“The restructuring of the sales department is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. I have loved guiding Julie on her success over the past three years and I am incredibly proud to be passing the baton over to her.”

Voultepsis’ first mission in her promotion will be to broaden her team with a new account manager, implement Club Med’s Rent a Resort strategy and enrich its successful MICE strategies.

“I am honoured and excited to be stepping into the role of meeting and events manager at Club Med,” Voultepsis said. “Having been with Club Med for over 20 years, I have a strong passion and belief in the product and the company’s commitment to providing unparalleled experiences and believe it is unmatched in the industry.

“When I was approached for the role, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to take on this new challenge, focus on innovation, client satisfaction and expand the portfolio of offerings across Club Med’s global resorts while pushing the boundaries on what we can achieve together as a team.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside our very talented team in creating unforgettable experiences and delivering exceptional value to our current and prospectus clients.”
