Eventbrite names new chief technology officer

Global event ticketing platform Eventbrite has announced the appointment of Vivek Sagi as its new chief technology officer.

In this role, Sagi will lead the company’s global engineering team to drive innovation for the platform’s users around the world.

Sagi brings more than two decades of experience as a serial entrepreneur and engineering executive, and joins Eventbrite from RetailMeNot, where he spent the past two years as chief technology officer.

Prior to his post at RetailMeNot, Sagi held leadership positions at Amazon, first as the chief technology officer of Woot.com, and then as the global head of product and engineering for Amazon Business Procurement Solutions, where he led teams across the US, Asia and Europe.

The announcement of Sagi’s appointment last month coincided with the release of Eventbrite’s second-quarter results, which revealed a US$38.6 million loss ($53.1 million), compared to a US$14.8 million ($20.3 million) in the same period last year.

However, the company did note that ticket sales trends showed successive monthly improvement throughout the quarter, driven by online events and smaller in-person events.
