Already established as a premium High Tea venue in Brunswick, a second sanctuary has been launched right outside Melbourne, just before the rolling hills of the Yarra Valley, in the up and coming suburb of Montrose.

This unique, High Tea experience is the result of tea sommelier, Sarah de Witt, and French-trained pastry chef, Jessica Hillbrick. Together, the dynamic duo are fusing the traditional art of high tea with contemporary food trends inspired by the cobblestone streets of Paris.

Their passion flows through to everything they do. Imagine unique, handcrafted tea blends inspired by the beautifully fragrant, connotations of gin. These blossoming teapots are as visual as they are flavorsome.

“Mary Eats Cake is the ideal destination for a unique High Tea experience with a contemporary flare,” said Sarah di Witt, Co-Founder of Mary Eats Cake.

“We celebrate the gathering of friends and family to indulge in a creative degustation of High Tea items paired with speciality teas.

“Mary Eats Cake is a place that reinvents the tradition of High Tea by incorporating unique teas in staple french pastries such as our Earl Grey infused eclair or with unique events including our exciting Gin Paired High Tea coming this August.”

Nestled cozily in a setting that is rustic and charming, Mary hangs her hat on a creative tea degustation; where a number of courses and a selection of teas are served to the height of perfection.

Tea flavours are infused into desert options, making a delightful contrast on the palate with flavours that balance and complement one another. Think delectable apple teacake with salted caramel, infused with the irresistible aroma of chai tea leaves.

DSC_8731Mary serves up an à la carte menu that features handcrafted sweets and deserts, but for a little more sparkle, guests will have the opportunity this August to a Gin inspired High Tea experience. Partnering with Mary’s favourite local distillery, Four Pillars Gin, this special event will see an exotic exploration of botanicals infused in gin and tea.
