Fiji Airways first-ever direct service to DFW plus new Business Class amenity kits
Edited by Travel Weekly

Fiji Airways has launched its new, longest and first-ever direct service to Dallas Fort Worth, offering Aussies convenient connections to Texas and beyond – via a quick stop in Fiji.

Plus the carrier has also unveiled new amenity kits available on all long-haul flights for Business Class passengers.

Developed in partnership with Samsonite and Formia these refreshed kits mark the airline’s first redesign of the kits since 2012.

The new service operates three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays initially with seamless connections between Australia and Fiji.

The inaugural 13-hour flight from Nadi, Fiji touched down at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport earlier today, 8.25am AEDT 11 December and was greeted with a water cannon salute as it taxied to the gate with excited passengers and special guests onboard.

To mark the occasion the airline is offering discounted return fares from just AU$1,599pp from Australia to Dallas Fort Worth, available until 17 December 2024.

This new 13-hour flight marks the airline’s longest flight and operates three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays on an Airbus A350.

Fiji Airways has also unveiled new amenity kits developed in partnership with Samsonite. The new Business Class amenity kits are available on long-haul flights and come in two distinct designs with two different colourways.

Fiji Airways is operating the state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 XWB aircraft on this new route, offering premium seating for 334 customers, including 33 lie-flat, aisle-access Business Class seats for ultimate comfort and convenience.

“With the launch of this new route, Fiji Airways is significantly enhancing connectivity across North America, offering Australians more convenient travel options with seamless connections from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, and Cairns starting next April,” Fiji Airways CEO and managing director Andre Viljoen said.

“This expansion not only opens doors for Australian travellers but also strengthens the inbound market, bringing more visitors from Texas and beyond to experience the beauty of Fiji and Australia. With over 2,000 additional seats per week added to our network, we’re excited to see strong demand already building in both directions.”

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is currently ranked the second most connected airport in the world, providing Fiji Airways passengers with easier access to more than 250 global destinations.

“DFW is excited to add the beautiful islands of Fiji to our growing portfolio of international destinations, bringing North Texas nonstop access to a tropical paradise and connecting Nadi with DFW’s network of more than 250 destinations around the world,” DFW’s CEO, Sean Donohue, said.

The DFW-NAN route strengthens Fiji Airways’ expanding presence in North America, joining existing services to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver to be the fifth direct route in the North American region.

This new route also marks Fiji Airways’ 26th international direct route, and with the airline’s growing network, will connect seamlessly with the airline’s 27th direct service to Cairns, Australia launching from 10th April 2025.

New amenity kits launched

Fiji Airways has also unveiled its new amenity kits, developed in partnership with Samsonite, the global leader in premium travel gear, and Formia, an award-winning aviation amenities design company.

Featuring two distinct bag designs and two colourways showcasing iconic Fijian motifs, each kit boasts high-quality details such as vegan leather accents and water-repellant twill fabric. One design also includes a strap that easily slides over luggage handles for added convenience.

Inside, passengers will find a selection of travel essentials, including earplugs, breathable socks, a larger eyemask, a bamboo toothbrush and toothpaste in kraft packaging, a kraft & wheat straw pen, and a 10ml body lotion from the Italian vegan skincare brand, Teaology, infused with tea extracts.
