Flight Centre unveils new tech investments at in-person conference

Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) held its first annual conference in two years last week where it unveiled its latest tech investments to put independent agencies at the forefront.

The conference was held at the Hilton Surfer’s Paradise and attendees from all FCTG’s independent brands joined: Travel Partners, Flight Centre Independent, Travel Associates at Home, and Travel Associates Franchise.

FCTG’s new tech update was presented by the company’s general manager, Astrid Richardson, and the group’s executive general manager, product, Greg Parker, shared insights into how FCTG is positioned to ensure independent agencies can maximise their commercial returns from the travel they sell.

“We are designing reporting and business management technology specifically for independently owned and operated travel agencies, with the goal of making it easy and profitable to operate and affiliate with FCTG,” Richardson said.

“In addition to our new travel ecosystem, Home, we have also just released – and will continue to develop – detailed reporting for each agency in our network to have a clear understanding of their sales.

“Transparency is our goal – we see the power independents offer, not only to our business, but to their end customers and the industry as a whole – and we want to enable them to deliver the best possible service and results.”

Conference attendees then went into breakout sessions to help independent agents and agency owners drive growth in their business.

The Thursday night gala dinner was sponsored by Qatar Airways and held at SkyPoint where awards were given to top-selling mobile agents and agencies from all brands, as well as special awards for agents who have exceeded expectations in their support of the division.

The conference wrapped up with a supplier showcase, followed by a selection of activities sponsored by I Love New York. To finish up the night, agents and sponsors could choose from a spa experience, stand up paddle boarding, a craft gin tasting and distillery tour or a Sip and Paint session.
