Get Local postponed again, this time until October

Get Local has been rescheduled for 18 and 19 October in response to the latest government health advice.

Co-owners Donna Kessler and Gary Bender made the decision after discussion with key stakeholders, partners and government health experts.

“Given the most recent lockdowns in Greater Sydney and Melbourne, Get Local is now more important than ever for the business events community to reconnect with one another and at an appropriate time to do so,” Kessler and Bender said in a joint statement.

“We are a resilient industry and we thank everybody for their ongoing support in such unprecedented times.”

The Get Local co-owners are confident that current travel restrictions and rules on group gatherings will be eased by October.

“Coupled with an increase in the vaccination rollout, the industry as a whole will be far better off and live meetings and events will be back on the agenda once again,” they said.

“Many venue operators are experiencing very strong enquiries for late 2021 and 2022, which puts Get Local in October in a good position to help restart the sector.”

This is the second time this year that the in-person event has been postponed. Get Local originally slated to run at the end of this month, before being moved to August.
