IHG readies to open three landmark ANZ voco Hotels over the next two months

The growth of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ voco brand is set for big developments this quarter, with anticipation and excitement growing around the impending opening of three new voco Hotels in the next two months: voco Melbourne Central (28 April), voco Auckland City Centre (12 May) and voco Brisbane City Centre (27 May).

Since opening the world’s first voco Hotel in Australia in 2018 – voco Gold Coast – the bright yellow brand has opened its doors in 31 locations around the UK, France, Austria, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Greater China.

Now, in the Pacific, IHG plans to grow the brand to 5 hotels in the region thanks to the opening of Melbourne, Auckland and Brisbane, with these new destinations joining voco Gold Coast, and voco Kirkton Park Hunter Valley which opened in 2019.

Opening at the end of April 2022, voco Melbourne Central will carry the tag of being Australia’s first new-build voco Hotel and will take up a prominent Lonsdale Street address, part of Melbourne’s iconic new ‘380 Melbourne’ skyscraper.

Cultivating plant life throughout the hotel’s open public spaces through a partnership with Victorian ecological garden specialists, Fytogreen, voco Melbourne Central will be a flagship property for the brand when it opens and carry all the hallmarks of voco’s ‘tread lightly’ philosophy.

The hotel’s pledge for greener stays will also see every one of the 252 guestrooms feature at least one window that opens, reducing the reliance on air-conditioning and a reduction in energy.

Voco Auckland City Centre will open in May 2022 and herald the voco brand’s first foray into New Zealand.

Voco’s sustainability hallmarks, alongside its unstuffy, friendly service and bustling restaurant and bar trademarks, have served the brand well since its launch just four years ago, with hotels adopting a strong point of difference-making them a smart choice for business and leisure travellers alike.

In particular, for the sustainably-minded, over 150 recycled plastic bottles have been put to use in voco guest rooms, turning plastic waste into a sustainable sleep with high-quality bedding.

Voco bedding is made from 100 per cent recycled materials, while the linen produced in line with the Better Cotton Initiative supports sustainable cotton harvesting.

To date, the initiative has equated to over half a million bottles that have been recycled to make voco bedding across the hotels. Guests can expect these hallmarks to be implemented in all of the new Pacific openings.

To celebrate the opening of the new voco Hotels, guests can experience the ‘voco Life’ with a tailored package with all the perks.

The opening offer includes overnight accommodation, complimentary breakfast for two, an upgrade on arrival with guaranteed views, complimentary voco cocktail and hotel bespoke welcome treat on arrival.
