Independent Collection by Event appoints GMs for newly added properties

Independent Collection by Event has announced the appointment of new general managers for properties that have recently been added to the group.

Sam Farrington will lead the teams across three South Terrace Adelaide properties, while Andrea Donaghy (pictured above) will step into the GM role at the newly branded Kennigo Hotel Brisbane.

Both appointments come from within the Event Hospitality & Entertainment group, and bring extensive management, industry and market experience to the respective leadership roles.

Farrington has made the move to South Terrace from Rydges Pit Lane, where she will play a critical role in the revitalisation of the three hotels in the Adelaide precinct – a development that is set to transform the South Terrace landscape for travellers and locals alike.

“I’m incredibly excited to be part of such a unique project,” she said.

“This development will refresh and revitalise this area of the Adelaide CBD, which is a key gateway location to some of South Australia’s most iconic regions.

“Come 2022, we will have three distinct product offers at South Terrace, including a new flagship property and food and beverage offering. This is an exciting time for the city and a unique leadership opportunity for me professionally.

“I look forward to working with my teams to bring three very different, but complementary new independent hotel brands to life.

“Sitting under the Event group umbrella, a locally owned and run business committed to community, my team and I will also focus on ways to utilise our hotel facilities and spaces to deliver South Terrace as a community hub which can welcome local activations, markets and events.”

Donaghy steps into her new role as GM of the Kennigo Hotel, which officially opened on 27 July, from Park Hotel Brisbane.

She brings with her a raft of experience, including opening new and rebranded hotels such as Rydges Newcastle, Atura Blacktown and Atura Adelaide Airport.

Donaghy said it was “an honour” to be leading the opening of the Kennigo Hotel.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for the property as we reopen to the public, while also working on a vibrant new food and beverage offer, which will be revealed in the coming months and has been designed to appeal to travellers and locals alike,” she said.

Event unveiled its new collection of independently-branded hotels earlier this year.
