InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort unveils holographic tech for meetings and events

In what it claims to be a first for the Australian MICE market, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort has added innovative 3D holographic technology to its outdoor event production packages for corporate clients and group events.

In collaboration with its long-term in-house audio visual and event production company, Encore Event Technology, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort will offer event packages including the holographic technology for clients.

The iconic Gold Coast property is a popular venue choice for corporate meetings, conferences and events, with 14 indoor and outdoor spaces available throughout the 4.2-hectare resort. Events can accommodate between eight to 500 people.

Unique to InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort and its new offering is the property’s one-acre saltwater lagoon beach pool, which it will offer as the stage for its holographic technology.

InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort general manager Matt Rippin said: “Our new holographic technology will enable clients to inject an element of surprise and wonder to their events or celebrations with high-definition, 3D holograms projected onto large ‘hologauze’ screens that appear to float above the still waters of our lagoon beach pool.

“The resort’s holographic display is perfect for product launches, branding and re-branding events, storytelling, entertainment, or for any event organiser looking to fully engage their guests with the latest in outdoor event production technology.

“Special lighting surrounding the lagoon beach pool creates a sense of depth for the holographic displays and provides atmospheric lighting.”

Rippin said research shows that consumers respond particularly well to interactive and immersive narratives.

“This is exactly what this technology can do for our clients – immerse their delegates in a story, a product or brand with high-definition visuals that are larger than life,” he explained.

“Event organisers can use the technology to bring their brands and their brand stories to life with different multimedia that is projected onto screens and customised to suit the needs of each client.”

The holographic technology can also be used for companies with managing directors or CEOs based in other countries that are unable to attend a special event.

Andrew MacColl, technology director at Encore Event Technology, said its teams would work with InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort’s clients to pre-record specific messages from their managers to appear in a holographic form at an event.

“Our global network of AV teams gives InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort the unique capability of being able to project pre-recorded media of people who have a message or story to share with delegates, but at the time of the event are located elsewhere around the world.

“Pre-recorded content gives delegates the experience of being able to see and hear from their CEO or a special guest as they appear to walk on water right before their eyes.

“We also have the capability to overlay video conferencing technology to project live holographic displays of people at an event.

“In this instance, the projection and image are live, and audience members can ask questions and talk in real-time to their CEO or a guest who is beamed in to join an event then and there.

“It’s remarkable technology that will bring the ‘wow’ factor to any event in an amazing display of colour, moving 3D imagery, music and surround sound for delegates.”

Encore Event Technology has been incorporating the holographic technology into its indoor event production at convention centres and corporate spaces for the past few years.

However, MacColl said this was the first time the technology had been used outdoors in the middle of a lagoon beach pool surrounded by white sand and lush tropical gardens.

Corporate event packages with the holographic technology can be customised to suit the needs of each client and style of event.
