Langham Hospitality Group appoints first-ever chief operations officer

Langham Hospitality Group has appointed Bob van den Oord as its new chief operations officer (COO) to support the company’s hotel operations and core business functions.

The COO role is a newly created position at the group which reports directly to CEO Stefan Leser.

Van den Oord brings over two decades of experience to his new role based at Langham’s corporate office in Hong Kong.

He was most recently managing director at The Langham, London as well as regional vice president of operations for Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

In his new capacity as COO, van den Oord will oversee the regional vice presidents, hotel managing directors and general managers of the group’s properties in North America, Europe, the Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

At the corporate level, van den Oord will steer Langham’s food and beverage, spa, rooms and quality divisions.

“Bob has been instrumental in guiding our flagship hotel in London to new heights in a highly competitive market, and we have the utmost confidence in his expertise and abilities to lead our global operations team,” Leser said.

“His outstanding reputation, luxury expertise and enthusiasm for our brands will position them for success well into the future.”

Commenting on his new role, van den Oord said: “I am honoured to lead as COO for Langham Hospitality Group, as it has been an important part of my life for more than 20 years.
