This week, we caught up with the newly appointed group travel business leader for Australia at FCM Meetings & Events, Andrew Yell, to find out how he’s been faring amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
What are you reading?
Predator by Patricia Cornwall.
What are you watching?
The Animal Kingdom series on Netflix
What are you listening to?
Too much COVID news.
What are you cooking?
More complex meals than pre-COVID. Looking for inspiration is the challenge.
How are you staying fit both physically and mentally?
Getting outside for lunch. There is a lot to be said for a change of scenery and some sun.
What’s the one thing keeping you sane?
Being able to find the funny and have a laugh.
What’s something positive you’ve witnessed or experienced since the coronavirus hit?
The ‘reset’ of life for us all is actually a great thing – it’s all just that bit slower and less of a frenetic, forward pace. Spending more time on things that matter.
What have you learned about yourself amid the crisis?
I am actually okay with being at home – all the time! Don’t stress over what you can’t change.
What’s your advice for others in the MICE industry on coping with the crisis?
Be flexible and responsive to the way we work and how our customers’ needs are changing. This is a great opportunity to do things differently.
