The Meetings & Events Australia 2017 NSW Industry Awards may have finished last week, but we’re still buzzing over all the fantastic achievements of the MICE industry celebrated on the night.
We’re so excited about it that we’ve compiled a list of all the great achievements of the night.
Sydney Olympic Park authority business events takes NSW top gong at MEA industry awards
The Sydney Olympic Park Authority Business Events team has been recognised for outstanding performance taking the NSW Award for ‘Metropolitan Destination Marketing Organisation’ at the Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) Industry Awards 2017.
The MEA Industry Awards is industry-renowned for recognising best management practice and outstanding performance in the Australian meetings and events industry.
Sydney Olympic Park Authority Senior Manager Business Events, Danielle Hoare, said to receive such significant acknowledgement by MEA is a great honour and reinforces the effectiveness of Sydney Olympic Park’s destination marketing approach.
“With over 100 function spaces across 11 venues in one destination, Sydney Olympic Park is well-equipped to cater to virtually any type of corporate event.”
“The Business Events team works closely with all 11 venues to collectively market the Sydney Olympic Park precinct as a world-class destination and the strength of collaboration with partners is key to our success,” Hoare said.
“Over the past 12-months the team has made significant marketing efforts in both the domestic and international market particularly targeting Asia-Pacific, which have lead to secure some incredible events at the Park and added investment in New South Wales.”
The Sydney Olympic Park Authority Business Events team will proceed to the National Awards event in Adelaide on 8 May, where the national winner will be announced at the MEA National Conference 2018 Gala Dinner.
International Productions wins 2 from 2 at MEA NSW Industry Awards
International Productions are celebrating today after winning two awards at last night’s Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) 2017 NSW Awards dinner held at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
Event Director, Megan Peters, was announced Event Manager of the Year – Agency for the second year running – an incredible achievement in a highly contested category. International Productions was also awarded Event Agency of the Year for the first time – a huge achievement for the small, close-knit team.
Megan accepted both the individual and team awards whilst Managing Director, Adryan Daynes, is currently overseas. Megan has over 15 years’ experience in the meetings and events industry, including senior management positions in agencies, catering and venues.
Judged by a panel of industry and independent judges, the MEA Industry Awards celebrate excellence and best business practice in the meeting and events industry, encouraging professionals to excel in the achievement of their business and personal goals.
The International Productions team will go on to compete for national honours in both categories at the MEA National Awards at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Tuesday, 8 May 2018.
Get Global Wins in Its Inaugural Year
In a sign of strong industry confidence, Get Global, the one-day MICE trade event dedicated to outbound product, has been awarded the Exhibition of the Year at the Meetings & Events Australia 2017 NSW Industry Awards in Sydney.
Unlike other trade events, Get Global enables buyers to circulate through the event at their own pace and focus on designated geographical zones to meet exhibitors, setting a new benchmark for those operating the in the MICE tradeshow industry.
In 2018, the event will also launch the Inspiration Corner, located right on the exhibition floor, driving educational leadership in the trade event space. Buyers and sellers will be inspired by travel and business experts from around the globe, in partnership with ICMI Speakers & Entertainers.

MEA NSW Industry Awards recognise event leader, Staging Connections
Staging Connections were thrilled to accept the award for Special Event of the Year at last night’s Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) 2017 NSW Awards dinner, held at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
Staging Connections won the award for their efforts for the Asian Paints Privilege Club Convention 2017 – accepted by an ecstatic local events team.
The prestigious award is judged by a panel of industry and independent judges to celebrate excellence and best business practice in the meeting and events industry. The aim of the MEA Industry Awards is to encourage professionals to excel in the achievement of their business and personal goals.
The Staging Connections team will go on to compete for the nation-wide title at the MEA National Awards at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Tuesday, 8 May 2018.
