Mercure Geelong revamps conference centre

Say hello to a fresh conference space in Geelong.

The Mercure Geelong has now officially completed a full refurbishment of its conferences centre, opening its doors on September 30.

The venue hosted its inaugural event in the centre for the Australian Wildlife Tourism Conference, with Honourable John Eren Victorian Minister for Tourism opening the occasion.

General manager Phil O’Brian said it was an exciting move forward launching the new space.

“We’re delighted to have re-launched our modernised conference centre to host such an important and high profile conference in our new venue,” he said.

“Taking in both the interior and exterior of the hotel to deliver a more prominent outlook for passers-by, the new event space offers a more energised and engaging area for delegates to spread out.”

“We expect our new improved venue to be popular for weddings and local business functions.”

The spacious lounge area provides a stylish and comfortable seating area for delegates to relax, and recover between sessions on mixed-style designer furniture. The bar has also undergone a makeover to provide a more open and inviting area for delegates to enjoy a drink or catch up with fellow attendees.

Under the direction of Melissah Weigall from Indesign Concepts, funky furnishings and decoration add a pop of colour, scattered around the venue to add interest and personality. Other new features include quality soft furnishings, floor and table lamps and limited edition Australian artworks.

With new technology features and ambient lighting, the refurbished function rooms will provide local businesses with an impressive venue to meet, break, co-ordinate or entertain.
