Merivale snaps up new beachside venue

Merivale has snapped up yet another Sydney property to add to its burgeoning portfolio, and this time, it’s The Collaroy Hotel.

Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, owner Justin Hemmes said he’s proud to be expanding into the region.

“The Collaroy is in a truly spectacular location, with sweeping views of the ocean and sand literally at its door step.

“This is a really exciting addition to the group, and one that will beautifully complement what we’re creating at The Newport,” he said.

“I love the northern beaches; it is a magnificent area and we are incredibly proud to be part of it,” he added.

Hemmes launched into northern Sydney suburbs in 2015 with their purchase of The Newport for around $50 million, per The Australian.

The Newport launched the first phase of its landmark redevelopment in April last year, transforming the expansive outdoor property into a vibrant gathering place for the community.

The second phase, featuring an indoor restaurant and bar, is set to open this summer. Executive Chef Jordan Toft is currently recruiting for his kitchen team.

So far, the vibe and style of The Collaroy is pretty in sync with other Merivale venue, Coogee Pavilion, although no plans have been revealed yet on what Hemmes has planned for the venue.
