Best Western International has been awarded the ‘Best Mid-Range Hotel Brand’ title at the 25th Annual TTG Travel Awards, which took place in Bangkok on October 3.

The eighth consecutive year of winning the award, Best Western International also won the ‘Best Trade Supporter’ award, which falls under the ‘Outstanding Achievement Awards’ category and recognises companies who demonstrate the highest level of support for the travel trade.

 

Crowne Plaza Canberra has announced the appointment of Tina Fisher as the new general manager, bringing with her a strong marketing and sales background, including 25 years’ experience in hotels, travel and membership organisations.

Fisher’s last role was as general manager for sales and marketing at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia, with other positions including overseeing IHG franchises while working with Southern Sun Hotels.

 

The InterContinental Sydney Double Bay has scheduled the opening of Stillery, its new bar on the first floor, for November 2014, making it the first concept gin bar in Sydney.

Inspired by the distilling history of the local area, Stillery will offer high-end local craft, imported, vintage and rare gin, as well as an expansive menu of cocktails and punches, other spirits, ciders, beers and wines.

In addition, a restaurant entitled Stockroom will also open at the venue in November, offering dishes in a European pantry-style setting under executive chef Julien Pouteau.

 

Tourism Portfolio has announced the appointment of Silky Bedi to the newly-created role of sales coordinator, in which she will be responsible for supporting the company’s business development activities and assisting in the promotion of products.

 Bedi has more than 10 years’ experience in the travel industry, and has worked with companies such as Adventure World, Creative Holidays and Qantas Holidays.

 

Seabreeze Resort, the adults only hotel in Samoa, has been awarded the title of ‘Samoa’s Leading Hotel’ for the second consecutive year at the 21st annual World Travel Awards in New Delhi recently.

Since re-opening in 2011, Seabreeze has become a popular destination in Samoa, also winning awards including 2014 New Zealand Restaurant Challenge, and TripAdvisor’s ‘Travellers’ Choice’ in 2013 and 2014.
