Opening date revealed for CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park

Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) has announced it will open the doors of its new state-of-the-art conference and events centre in September this year.

The announcement comes as the Associations Forum National Conference confirmed CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park as its 2021 host.

The conference will welcome hundreds of senior executives and board members from across Australia to the Victorian capital on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 September.

Fatima Sunderji, general manager of the Associations Forum, said that the decision to partner with CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park was a perfect match, with excitement already building across the industry to reconnect face-to-face.

“The Associations Forum’s mission is bringing associations together to share knowledge and best practice within the industry, through our range of member services and educational events,” she said.

“We are so thrilled to bring back physical events, and what better way to do this then by holding our 16th National Conference in Melbourne.

“In partnership with CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park, this premier event will shine the spotlight on this major destination for business events.”

With flexibility for both small- and large-scale events, the new venue – spanning across three storeys – has capabilities to host intimate dinners, weddings, cocktail parties, conferences, galas and functions.

On top of this, guests can easily access the venue from rail, road, path and river, while enjoying the scenic surroundings of Melbourne, native Australian flora and fauna, and the neighbouring Yarra River.

Lara Burnes, general manager of premier events and experiences at M&OP, said: “It’s been a long time coming, and the team and I are buzzing with excitement to welcome Australians and guests from abroad to experience unparalleled events that leave you in awe.

“With CENTREPIECE located within our iconic Melbourne & Olympic Parks precinct, the new venue will also become the official media centre for the Australian Open 2022.

“This year, we were able to enjoy a sneak peek into how our venue will support the Aus Open, as well as interact with its surrounding sister venues.

“So far, Melbourne & Olympic Parks has already welcomed over 250,000 guests across 60 event days in 2021, and we cannot wait to officially open the doors to CENTREPIECE. We look forward to helping our industry supercharge events for this year and beyond.”
