Pullman Adelaide’s top-floor function and events space to undergo major refurb

A $1 million refurbishment of the top floor function and events space at the Pullman Adelaide Hotel has been given the go-ahead, with works set to commence in December this year.

As part of the five-star repositioning of the property, this major upgrade of this top floor space will mark an important milestone for the hotel since transitioning to Accor’s Pullman Hotels & Resorts brand, from Crowne Plaza, in late 2017.

Owner Hines Property engaged global design studio Woods Bagot for the project and appointed Shape as lead contractor.

Rosina Di Maria, principal at Woods Bagot, said: “The centrepiece of the re-design will be the incorporation of glazing to the function spaces that will allow panoramic views across Hindmarsh Square, the city and towards Adelaide Hills.

“The design concept to update Pullman Adelaide celebrates the hotel’s unique location – which is almost entirely bordered by parklands – by taking inspiration from the detailed architectural and cultural elements of the city and the Botanic Gardens.”

The 15th floor will receive a complete makeover, including new wall coverings, extensive use of stone, custom flooring, specialist lighting and state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment.

The main ballroom, capable of hosting functions for up to 400 attendees, and divisible into up to four smaller rooms, will be upgraded, as well as the unique corner boardroom. The rooms will benefit from the latest audio-visual technology and lighting controls.

The pre-function space will feature a refurbished bar facility and bi-fold doors to a balcony overlooking Hindmarsh Square.

Following its upgrade, the top floor will provide a premier function and events space for Adelaide, benefitting from the five-star service and contemporary food and beverage offering of Pullman Hotels & Resorts.

Llewellyn Wyeth, general manager of Pullman Adelaide, said the soon-to-be enhanced conferencing space will reflect the hotel’s repositioning as a luxury hotel, and will be a unique conferencing and event space in the Adelaide market.

“The unique aspect from our top floor function space is the amazing views across Hindmarsh Square,” he said.

“Now that the meeting rooms will benefit from this aspect via the new glazed façade, the space will be perfectly suited to business events and meetings, whilst capturing the ambience and design qualities suitable for personable functions such as weddings and celebrations.

“We are excited to be embarking on this new project with our hotel owner, Hines Property, and we are looking forward to welcoming new business to enjoy our brand-new seamless conferencing facilities from early 2020.”

Since rebranding in 2017, several upgrades have been executed by Hines Property for Pullman Adelaide, including guest room upgrades, gymnasium and fitness centre upgrades, and the creation of the Hindmarsh Club, a private executive lounge.
