Rydges to take over Holiday Inn Old Sydney

Under a new management agreement, Rydges has added the Holiday Inn Old Sydney to its network of properties.

Rydges has entered into a management agreement to re-brand the Holiday Inn Old Sydney as Rydges Sydney Harbour as of 14 January 2020.

Plans are already underway for a refurbishment of the 176-guest room property, which will include a revitalisation of the hotel bars and restaurant.

The win for Rydges, which is part of Event Hospitality & Entertainment Limited (EVENT), will see the property sit alongside other EVENT hotels and resorts across Australia and New Zealand as the company’s 16th hotel in Sydney.

Norman Arundel, director of hotels and resorts at EVENT, said: “This property is a true icon of Sydney, featuring a spectacular atrium lobby, restaurant, bar and rooftop swimming pool.

“Our team is excited about the appointment and look forward to bringing Rydges’ signature style and genuine commitment to delivering great service and hospitality to the hotel and our guests in the New Year.

“Given the significance of the property as one of the most in-demand hotels in the country, the strong understanding of the local market we bring is particularly important.

“We are looking forward to an exciting new era for the hotel, harnessing the power and expertise of the Rydges brand to realise the full potential of the property and deliver unrivalled experiences for guests.”

Rydges will reveal the general manager if its newest property before the end of the year.
