UPDATED: SA Tourism Minister lauds Singapore Airlines for adding extra Adelaide flights
Adelaide will benefit from Singapore Airlines’ flight frequency and passenger capacity changes across its network in the 2025 northern winter and summer operating season, with three more flights out of the South Australian capital.
In response to demand Singapore will increase flights from Adelaide to Singapore to 10 a week across the northern winter 2024 and northern summer 2025 seasons, up from the current seven-times weekly services. Emirates also recently announced it will reinstate its Adelaide services from 28 October.
“It is wonderful to see an increase in services from Singapore Airlines, with 10 weekly flights direct to Adelaide from October set to bring more visitors from our state’s key tourism markets in time for summer and a series of blockbuster major events in South Australia,” South Australian Minister for Tourism, Zoe Bettison, told Travel Weekly.
“As Adelaide’s longest-serving international airline, the State Government through the South Australian Tourism Commission has a strong relationship with Singapore Airlines which has played an important role in boosting tourism expenditure and promoting travel to our state since it started flying to Adelaide in 1984.
“The increase from seven to 10 flights per week will bring more visitors from Singapore which is currently South Australia’s fourth largest international market in visitor spend, as well as from key markets in Europe and the UK,” she said.
“The timing couldn’t be better as we approach summer in South Australia and a string of international events including Chihuly in the Botanic Garden, a Christmas Test Match this December when Australia take on India, the Adelaide International tennis in January, and the 25th edition of the Santos Tour Down Under.”
Frequencies to Ho Chi Minh City will rise to three-times daily, up from 19 times weekly, and services to Siem Reap will go to twice daily, up from a daily service.
From 30 March to 25 October 2025, Singapore Airlines will offer a daily service from Singapore to London (Gatwick), up from the current five-times weekly services. Together with its four-times daily flights to London (Heathrow), this will give the airline five daily services to the UK capital.
Services to Rome will increase to five times a week between 26 June 2025 and 28 August 2025, up from the current four weekly flights.
“Singapore Airlines regularly reviews our network and routes to align our capacity with demand,” Singapore Airlines acting senior vice president marketing planning, Dai Haoyu, said.
“These adjustments, ahead of next summer, cater to the higher demand to several destinations, particularly during the traditional mid-year peak travel season, enabling our customers to confidently make their 2025 travel plans. We look forward to connecting our customers to the world with SIA’s extensive network and delivering an unparalleled travel experience.”
The airline will delink its three-times weekly Singapore-Milan-Barcelona flights from June 24, 2025, to September 7, 2025.
Instead, it will mount five-times weekly direct flights to Barcelona during this period, up from the current two weekly flights. Milan will have a daily service, up from four-times weekly currently.
A three-times weekly service will be mounted to Johannesburg from 11 December 2024 to 10 January 2025, and from 2 April 2025 to 24 October 2025, bringing the total number of flights to the city to 10 times a week, up from the current daily services, during these periods.
The Airbus A380 will return to Tokyo (Narita) between 30 March 2025 and 31 May 2025 on one of its two daily services, replacing the Boeing 787-10. The A380 will stop operating to Mumbai from 28 July 2025 to 31 August 2025, and Delhi from 23 June 2025 to 27 July 2025, and will be replaced by the Boeing 777-300ER.
Singapore has also announced it will suspend services to Houston via Manchester from 1 April 2025. However, it will maintain five-times weekly services between Singapore and Manchester via SQ302 and SQ301.
