Travel DAZE 2020 speaker spotlight: Sébastien Bazin, Accor

Travel DAZE 2020 is not only featuring a swathe of big-name Aussie speakers next month, but some damn good global ones, too.

One of those is Sébastien Bazin, chairman and CEO of hospitality giant Accor. Here, we give you a brief rundown of his career to date…

After five years working in several financial positions in New York, San Francisco and London, Bazin was appointed CEO of investment bank Hottinguer Rivaud Finances in 1990, and then CEO of French hotel developer L’Immobilière Hôtelière in 1992.

In 1997, he joined real estate investment firm Colony Capital to head up its European branch and lead several acquisitions, principally in the hospitality sector. These included Générale des Eaux, Club Méditerranée, Lucien Barrière, Fairmont & Raffles, Buffalo Grill, Château Lascombes, and Stadia Consulting.

Bazin joined Accor’s board of directors in 2005 and, via Colony Capital, became a Paris Saint-Germain shareholder in 2006 and the football club’s chairman in 2009.

In August 2013, he resigned from his duties at Colony Capital and was appointed chairman and CEO of Accor.

Bazin has been chairman of the Théâtre du Châtelet’s board of directors since 2015, and a board member since 2013.

He is also vice chairman of the Gustave Roussy Foundation’s supervisory board and has been a member of GE’s board of directors since 2016.

Check out who else will be speaking alongside Bazin at Travel DAZE 2020 here.

The event (which will be the only travel industry event of its scale in Australia this year) will virtually bring together the best minds from within the travel sector, along with external experts, to foster its recovery from COVID-19.

Presented by the Italian National Tourist Board in partnership with Travel Weekly (The Nibbler‘s sister publication), Travel DAZE 2020 will explore what tangible steps business owners, travel agents, tour operators, marketers, and communication specialists can take toward rebuilding a sustainable and profitable future.

The conference will kick off on Monday 2 November and finish up on Friday 6 November, and the best part is that it’s absolutely FREE!
