AIME delegates score exclusive preview of $972m Melbourne Park redevelopment

Melbourne & Olympic Parks (M&OP) has hosted an exclusive experience for an intimate group of hosted buyers and media as part of the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) 2019 Knowledge Exchange.

The venue visit, hosted by AIME’s major event partner, the Melbourne Convention Bureau, saw delegates begin their journey by embarking for a boat trip down the iconic Yarra River.

Arriving at M&OP, located at the edge of the city’s CBD, hosted buyers and media were greeted with the precincts’ world-famous Australian hospitality, before enjoying an exclusive menu prepared by Delaware North in Rod Laver Arena’s latest refurbished restaurant space, the Railyards Bistro & Bar.

Guests were then treated to an exclusive tour through the three stages of the Victorian Government’s $972 million Melbourne Park redevelopment, including its latest restaurant and bar offerings, reimagined event spaces, and the unveiling of the site of the new function and media centre.

To round out the visit, delegates and media were invited to paint a vibrant mural, capturing the rich history of the venue with images of Rod Laver, AAMI Park, tennis champions, and the new function centre’s AIME concept – the monumental white cube – before returning to AIME for the first networking evening.

Lara Burnes, general manager of premier events and experiences at M&OP, said: “It’s been an exciting journey unveiling our new function and media centre at AIME, which is the first event to kick-start the global business events industry calendar.

“We wanted to showcase the incredible and unforgettable experiences that our precincts have on offer, as well as treat our AIME guests to a world-first preview of what the future holds for M&OP.”
