Coachella cancelled for third time in a row

Iconic US-based music festival Coachella has been cancelled for the third time, according to a tweet from a public health authority.

Founded in 1999, Coachella festival is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, and attracts roughly 250,000 people each year.

The festival was originally cancelled in April last year due to COVID-19, and was supposed to be moved to October.

When the October date too was cancelled, the festival was set to take place in April this year.

However, Dr Cameron Kaiser, the public health officer for Riverside County where Coachella is held, said in a tweet that he had signed a public health order cancelling the festival alongside its sister event, Stagecoach Country Music Festival.

According to Billboard, new dates have not yet been announced to replace this year’s events.

Glastonberry Festival in England, which was set to take place in June, was also cancelled last week.
